Sports Mentoring was set up to help improve the performance of those involved across all sports
by helping them realise their own potential through
a variety of techniques and services, focusing mainly on communication,
video analysis and opening up locked potential through team work and
moving players away from their comfort zone and relying on doing what
they have always done!
Coaches, Players, Tutors and Assessors
can all improve through self reflection, video analysis, improvement of
awareness, fitness and diet and overall lifestyle improvement.
We work across all age ranges and
abilities, female and male, from challenging backgrounds through to professional
sports players. A group of
individuals from a professional sporting background with a strong team
ethic and a spread of skill sets; from basic cricket coaching to diet
issues and lifestyle management.
Pete Williams started Sports Mentoring nearly two years ago, his
back ground is in cricket having worked at Essex County Cricket Club /
Board for many years. He started off as a level one cricket coach,
delivering coaching in play grounds and ended up as Cricket Development
Manager. The pathway took him to running and developing the Graham Gooch
indoor cricket centre which included the designing and implementing of a
IT / Video analysis suite for the use of both recreational and
professional players. Pete also designed and built a database of video
clips of all the first class players in action which was used by the 1st
team coaches and players to analyse strengths and weaknesses in the
oppositions game. He was also the technical analyst to the club which
included data logging all matches and the recording of match analysis
both notational and analytical using Crickstat, feedback cricket and
Silicon Coach software packages. Essex CCC still use Sports Mentoring
for this service at this current time.
Pete works closely with the ECB in the development of new
notational video and data match analysis and has strong links also to
the ECB coach education department where he is a Internal verifier and
Field Based Trainer, working with new tutors on the coach education
circuit.
Sports Mentoring were proud to represent the ECB during the 2009
successful Ashes campaign by running the Sky Sports coaching Zones
during the npower cricket in the park events.
